Pogi Problems: Black Heads and White Heads Removal by Skin Philosophie

Whiteheads and blackheads are caused by formation of comedone plugs. Comedones result from hyperproduction of oil that gets trapped underneath the skin. They are transformed into pimples when inflammation sets in together with the colonisation of the Propionibacterium acnes bacteria.

According to dermatology.about.com, blackheads, also known as open comedones, are follicles that have a wider than normal opening. They are filled with plugs of sebum and sloughed-off cells and have undergone a chemical reaction resulting in the oxidation of melanin. This gives the material in the follicle the typical black color.

While whiteheads, also known as closed comedones, are follicles that are filled with the same material, but have only a microscopic opening to the skin surface. Since the air cannot reach the follicle, the material is not oxidized, and remains white.
How to treat blackheads and whiteheads?
There are various ways to treat blackheads and whiteheads. It can be a hormonal treatment, medication or just by cleaning the skin regularly. An anti-acne treatments can also help us solve one of our Pogi Problems and restore our lost confidence.

The treatment took about an hour. It consists of 4 major procedures.
1. Cleansing - cleansing using a hypoallergenic cleanser (for sensitive to normal skin) or a degreasing wash (for oily skin). Of course, they need to remove those dirts on the skin before proceeding to the next steps.
2. Relaxing Facial Therapy, Massage and Toning - after the cleansing part, the treatment followed by a sensual aromatherapy, a calming lymphatic massage and galvanic toning. This is my favorite part because it's very relaxing.
3. Scrubbing - I have to say that this is the most "tiis-ganda" moment. Haha A manual scrubbing will be executed to remove those blackheads and whiteheads.
4. Diamond Microdermabrasion - this is the last procedure to facilitate deeper cleansing by removing dead skin cells that clog pores as well as superficial blackheads and whiteheads. Oh diba, walang ligtas ang mga blackheads and whiteheads! :)

But wait, there's more! A high frequency device closes the pores and application of toner restores the natural skin pH. Dra. Talens recommends the procedure to be done every month for best results.

Overall, the experience was good and very relaxing. If you will undergo this treatment, make sure you don't have any extreme activities the next day. This is because your skin is now thinner and more prone to dirt.
